The problem: some important keys on my slide-out keyboard no longer do what they should. In particular, when using the xterm the Return, Chr, and Fn keys do nothing (return works in microb though). This obviously makes life difficult! The little autocomplete window that pops up at the bottom has also gone (no great loss in my opinion, but presumably a symptom of whatever has gone wrong).

I know I did something to break this, but I don't know exactly what.

What I was doing: I was trying to free up some space by removing things I never use. The ezitext languages other than english seemed like prime candidates, so I started with ezitext-danish and worked my way down. When I removed the first one it took out a bunch of other stuff as well, which I did not pay too much attention to as I figured it would be logged somewhere. But if it is, I can't find where! Anyway, since then I have had my problem, so I assume that something that got taken out should not have been taken out.

If anyone can tell me what to put back to get my keys working again I would be very grateful! Someone please pretend you are going to remove ezitext-danish and post the list that comes up ...

OK, never mind! I reinstalled osso-software-version-rx44, which pulled in a bunch of stuff, and after a reboot all is well again. Lesson learned!

Just in case anyone is still playing along at home, it seems that removing gizmo-installer and/or skype-installer was the actual culprit here. I did this right before removing ezitext-danish, and the reinstall pulled both back in again, so I removed them, and immediately afterwards it wanted to remove a whole bunch of stuff like before. Installing gizmo and skype first then removing them and their installers seems to be the path to enlightenment here.
