i dont think the thread is a bad mistake, personally i dont know what FW im running! i think im on PR 1.1.1 but im on contract with voda uk so how can i be as others mention a vodafone variant
in 'about' it says im running version 3.2010.02-8 and i installed that approx 6 weeks ago

That is generally what happens when Vodafone subsidise a handset, they have their own firmware variant. If you want to change to the UK unbranded version then that is possible by flashing but you might find that Vodafone have something to say about it if it goes back for repair sometime.

As far as anyone has been able to tell, they're not actually making any changes (yet, anyway). The PR1.1 release was made only a few hours after the generic UK firmware, which was about half a day after the global firmware. No idea what's happened with the PR1.1.1 release though (for either generic UK or Vodafone) to cause the long delays.

That's the global firmware then - the UK generic version would end in .203.1 (or 203.2 - I'm not sure what the final digit signifies), and the Vodafone version would end in .205.1 (I think).
