I have never gotten sipphone to work with my N800 (diablo). I have tried all kinds of permutations of the instructions to get it to work. Since someone here with a N800 has it working may I ask if you used the directions at the head of this post or if you had to jump through hoops.

I get either a network error or authentication failure (and I know I'm using the proper account name and password).

This is all very well and good, especially if you live in an area where free wifi is everywhere, but...

This is a MOBILE phone. If you haven't got wifi where you are, it wont function as a phone. Simple as that, so what is the point of all this to 99% of users?

Yes, you got it right. The instructions are ported over from N8x0, they work fine. No hoops to jump through. There are quite some permutation regarding which account/passwords to use, and I have to follow my own instructions to get it to work.
Just carefully check on which accts to use, that should work for you too.

Heh perhaps my message came across as a little harsh. I was excited when I read your title then I got disappointed that it requires Wifi. However, I can't condemn the idea, I am sure it will bring loads of people satisfaction and joy

It very useful for geeks who never leave the basement

Hopefully one day tmonbile will create a cheap DATA only plan. At&T used to have one for $20 but I think they discontinued it last year...

It doesn't seem to change anything for me.

I'm calling the T-Mobile USA voicemail system. When it connects, it says to press star to access (my) mailbox. I bring up the pad, push star, and nothing happens. I dismiss the dialing pad, then bring it up again and push star. After a few attempts, the call disconnects.

I also was not sure what arrow you were referring to...

What are you using to receive the Google Voice callbacks with? I'm using the built-in SIP with Gizmo.

For those 'hidden youth' who spend their life in a basement could only expect call from mom calling from upstair. Still it's useful to narrow the generation gap a bit. XD

Anyway good job bunanson! Thanks for the tips!
