So I figured out a way to know when a new PR will be coming out. (I think)
I have been pondering for some time getting a N900 (I am hooked) and have watched the pricing on Amazon and Dell through Google shopping.
Right now you can get a N900 from Dell for $479.
Last week, 2 day sale for $499.
Normally? $529 (somewhere in there)
Why the "sale" price?
Because a new PR is coming out and they want to get rid of the N900's with the old PR. That way, they don't have old inventory / Dell doesn't ship it back to Nokia for newest firmware.
What do you think?
Is my conjectures valid?

Sorry but you are wrong. The Price issue has nothing to do with the old firmwares.
There is already tons of topics with this same ****.

I doubt very much retailers would alter their pricing structures just because a firmware update is being released which would require their stock to be updated... If I was a shareholder in any retail chain that operated this policy I wouldn't be happy and I'm sure I'm not an exception

How do you know that PR 1.2 is coming?

"men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful..."

or something like that

I will know PR 1.2 is comimg when the little yellow update notification starts flashing, I press on it and see that it is not a third party update. That little yellow flashing square can cause so much excitement followed immediately by the massive low of disappointment.

Hopbeat is right. There will be wars and rumors of wars... It will be the best of times, and the worst of times.

I know when PR1.2 is coming. When it coming out, people on this community will make a thread about "PR1.2 is out" and everyone all hypo and crazy just like the first time they got laid after the prompt night.

Otherwise I'll drug NOKIA with truth serum then let Nokia speak it out. This the only way to find out when the PR1.2 coming out

Correct me if i'm wrong.

@ Dave999 - You are correct, I don't.
@ Blinde - I must have missed were people were comparing pricing/sales to new firmware releases.
@ *Sonic* -
@ cazzajay - I have seen it happen with multiple things. A new "gadget" monitor/laptop with higher specs coming out, they place the "old gadget" on sale. The only difference of course, is that it is firmware. I do see your point!
@ hopbeat - I don't. "lovers of their devices" should be somewhere in there...na. The original works.
@ spoonbuddy - Good point!

We'll see if I am right, or we have to wait longer than 1 week.

I just have to say that maybe the cost of actually doing business is not worth getting rid of inventory for something that can be done via software update. If there was a hardware revision or something of the like then I would have to say yeah but that is just like Toy's R Us getting rid of PS3's because they are coming out with a new firmware update. Just doesn't make sense.
