Maybe some of you had the chance to play around with a symbian device and use ovi maps 3.0. Do you consider it better or worst than the new Sygic for our N900?? What are the main differences?
I may stop waiting for ovi maps and go buy sygic if you say its worth it...

What are your opinions?

I haven't use ovi map 3 but I am sure if you don't want to buy multiple regions of maps for sygic, you might as well wait for Ovi.

If you have the money, go for sygic. If you don't mind the wait, wait for Ovi 3. I am sure we will be getting an update by the end of the month (crossing my finger) and ovi map 3 might come along too. I am hoping....

It is almost 99.99% confirmed that pr 1.2 is not going to come with ovi maps 3.0

I bought sygic yesterday, it rocks.
I would use Sygic HANDS DOWN over ovi maps.

that's too bad then....we can always be hopeful but we know Nokia's track record too well....

We can always hope that pr 1.2 will open the door to ovi map 3. I hate waiting so I got sygic.

We are now running maps 1.x. Should possible new major version for Maemo be 2.0 rather than 3.0 ?

Long time reader, first time poster..

Sygic is functional and does what it needs to do. I bought it out of necessity and also because I want to help any dev who is willing to support this platform commercially.

It has limitations such as there being no free text search (a feature of Ovi Maps) and the search is only by the POIs and addresses within its database whereas Ovi will search the internet, if connected. Example:-
To get to Rock Radio's offices in Salford Quays
-Ovi Maps search "Rock Radio Manchester" got me there straightaway.
- Sygic needed the address to be entered.

The traffic feature has not yet been activated (so far as I can see) in Sygic but is on the way. In Ovi Maps 3.0 (Symbian), it is there but is not very accurate most of the time. SISO rule applies, I suppose.

Absent a genuine turn-by-turn, voice-guided nav offering from Nokia for its "flagship" OS, Sygic is literally the only game in town. It's at a comparable price to an off-the-shelf basic sat nav (go to Maplins or even Morrisons) but is on your phone so no extra hardware to leave in your car and get stolen.

What more could you want to know about it? Would still like the Nokia flavour as it (3.0) is prettier, has better functionality and is free but I wouldn't mind a million pounds and a toilet-seat made of solid gold. If they aren't on the cards, I can dream about those and my Maemo version of Ovi Maps 3.0 at the same time.

Now, Rovio. Where are those damned angry birds I have been waiting for...?

That bit about having to use the exact address to navigate with Sygic doesn't sound so bad. I use the exact address all the time on Maps. For me the Sygic price is a little steep though.
