Chissà la vostra faccia quando leggerete questo topic scritto interamente in Italiano. Chi è italiano come me e si collega giornalmente a questo forum per scoprire nuove funzionalità del Nokia N900 sicuramente rimarrà sorpreso dalla mia decisione di dare un titolo in italiano al topic, ma sarete d'accordo con me spero, che questo sia il modo migliore per far capire come un utente non inglese ci si senta nel vedere nel proprio telefono applicazioni in lingua diversa. Spero che tra quelli che leggeranno questo topic ci sia qualcuno che mastichi meglio di me l'inglese e faccia capire ciò che voglio comunicare agli sviluppatori di Maemo, ovvero la quasi necessità che noi utenti abbiamo di avere applicazioni in multilinguaggio.

Hello to Maemo talk!
I'm a new user of this beatiful site and I'm an italian Boy! My English is not well and so sorry me for my errors :-P

I decide to write you to talk the importance of Multilanguage in a develop of an application!
Is it well for you to see in an english web-site a topic in italian language such as one above? I guess NO.

So i make an appeal to all developer of the Maemo 5 and not only (in particular at the open source comunity):

On behalf of all Italian users and non english one, i please you to design your application in multilanguage to simplify the process of spread of the application in all country!

We have on our side a big Resource : Open Source! You develop, we translate, for all!!!!!

Our develop, often create application in 2 version: an italian to test and another in english to achieve many people. As we I think that it does from developer of other Country (Spanish, French or German people).

I hope that you don't miss this call.

I agree it's one of the most important and overlooked aspects in the whole Maemo ecosystem. Few applications are properly translated. Even less applications have translated descriptions in the Application Manager.

OT: se magari venisse creato un programmino che ci permetterebbe di fare un rapido translate,sarebbe una cosa molto gradita...come ad esempio nei symbian: si modificava un file .rsc e tutto era finito li

OT: maybe if there was created a program that would do a quick translate, would be very welcome ... like for example in the Symbian: a file was changed .rsc and it was all over them

perchè fermarsi alla traduzione?
- creiamo un catalogo dove raccoglieremo tutte le apps da noi testate funzionanti e sopratutto tradotte (con la speranza ke anke altri paesi facciano lo stesso
- creazione di un topic parallelo a software applicazioni dal titolo aiuto traduzione o richiesta di traduzione! noi tutti potremmo dare una mano allo sviluppatore in modo diretto, se lo vorrà!

cmq l inglese lo capisco anke io, ma quando si tratta di fare discussioni in inglese spesso mi tiro fuori. kissà cosa penseranno gli inglese delle piccole abbreviazioni ke ho messo! mhuamhuauau


- if you translate your apps, we could collect it in a repository dedicated
- if it possible, maemo.org could create a dedicated section for the translation of apps. we directly help the developer!!!

quasi dimenticavo la traduzione se fosse possibile dovrebbe comprendere anche il titolo perchè alcune apps vanno ad installarsi nei programmi di default!
esempio boot manager che potrebbe essere tradotto con schermata di avvio o video introduttivo!

però questo spiegatelo voi perchè non saprei come dirlo! :-P

chiamare boot manager "gestore d'avvio" può avere senso ma secondo me i termini nati inglese dovrebbero restare tali.

secondo me assolutamente NO. O meglio non per tutto.

Quando sono utility di questo tipo è molto meglio tradurle. Comunque si potrebbe lasciare il nome del download come boot manager, ma quando si và ad installare cambia appunto nome in gestore video o video introduttivo o chi più ne ha più ne metta. L'importante è che venga specificato nella descrizione dell'applicazione rigorosamente in italiano ciò che si và ad installare.

E' una questione estetica oltre che prettamente pratica! Chissà se i mod ci stanno leggendo

The name of the app has to change in the corresponding italian. But the name of download must remain the same to not create confusion!
