So, I installed the new OS and Skype. I love Skype on my n800. It works quite well. But when I use it and then try to use the media player I get the message: UNABLE TO PERFORM OPERATION ,TRY AGAIN. The only thing that seems to make the Media Player usefull after that is to reboot the device. It will then work again, but only until I use Skype again. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a fix?

thanks,
Neil

Not able to reproduce here - streaming audio (eg. BBC Radio 1) over the internet and playing mp3s all work fine while signed into Skype and with Skype minimized.

Initiating a Skype call interrupts media player, but that's to be accepted and I have to manually restart the audio when the call is finished - shame it doesn't just pause it and continue.

Any particular bug you are worried about?

I'm sorry guys, but until you report a bug, that's entirely your problem, even if mplayer is unusable for you because of it. I don't have remote mind reading capabilities and can't help anyone in this case. So please cooperate properly or just shut up. Spreading FUD just discourages other users from even trying mplayer which has a high probability to work flawlessly for them, or they could at least be responsible enough to provide sane bugreports.

This isn't directly addressed to you, but the general trend in this forum worries me. There are quite a number of people who want to get everything for free and take it as granted, but not so many bother to contribute anything back (a good bugreport is a valuable contribution).

Yes, i get what your saying, your putting your hard worked on programs out there for free and then people like me publicly put your program down and possibly turn others away from downloading it. My appologies, and I won't put down mplayer for the problems i have with it or anything else. I will pm you or post something on the link you provided above.

[QUOTE=Serge;58540]Any particularor just shut up.

Telling users of this forum to do things your way or just shut up strikes me as undemocratic if not downright rude. You know there is just a possibility that some of us simply want to get a feel for what is the problem simply by asking if someone else is experiencing it. I'd be happy to participate in solving the bugs. I undeRstand these things are a work in progress. I'll make you a deal, I'll learn how if you will make an effort to be nicer about it. I think you should start with an appology. We're not sitting around wanting something for nothing. I have over $600 into this thing.

Since when was the Internet a democracy? Although I'll grant you that Serge's comment may cut a little close to the bone for some.

The point is Serge doesn't necessarily expect help "solving" the bugs, but if no-one tells him what they are, they can't be fixed by anyone. As he eloquently put it: a good bug report is a valuable contribution.

Cheers,

Andrew

^there ya go, back on track with a possible cause...

Also, to the OP: How long are you waiting until you resort to a reboot?
Programs don't release resources on these devices as quickly as on a Athlon 64 X2 5600+ box, LoL.

As to Serges remarks... I feel ya.

The whole thing could have been avoided by not adding the word "buggy" to the description.

It is hard to focus on the help that is requested when there are additional bits of off point info sprinkled in.
It's kind of like adding SPAM to your own post.
