it will be in:
control panel > panels + status bar tab
check the box for advanced power, you might uncheck battery unless you want them both

hmm so this could be my bad.
I just realized there are two separate applications one called "Advanced Power" and once called "Advanced Power Monitor"
I'm not sure what the difference is between the two but I have Advanced Power installed and it has an option for changing USB mode and is accessed on the status bar. maybe the other one does something else, I dunno but its possible that this is the problem.
