Hello all,

I'm new here and immediately complaining .

I got my N900 at the beginning of this month. I love the device, but have already encountered several problems.

Minor issues:
- Microphone not working during calls, fixed with reboot
- Somebody tries to call, but gets conneted to voice mail af if phone was offline (even it isn't). Again, fixed with reboot.

On Saturday, things got worse. Screen frozen completely and after "battery reboot", I only get nice rainbow colors to the left hand side of the screen and nothing else. Phone itself seems to work just fine (I get Nokia tune when booting etc.).

Any ideas what could be the cause? I'll anyway send the device to maintenance (hopefully covered by guarantee!), but I'm just curious.

It's most likely a hardware problem.
Do you see the NOKIA logo when powering on, without any problems?
If so a reflash would do, if not, well just send it in for repairs, it should be covered.
FM Radio did have a bug which would disable the microphone until the device was rebooted, but I thoight that was fixed.

Actually I get the "rainbow" immeadiately when powering up, no Nokia logo or anything. But still I get the tune and also tried pressing U+power with USB cable attached and that seemed to work just fine also in Windows (finds new hardware etc). So I guess the display has only decided to commit suicide.

I had a friend with the same phone, the one they got sent didnt work at all, it showed a mess of colour at the bottom, a smear of colors across the whole screen. they were in contract though, so got it replaced straight away, their new phone is working ok. sounds like a bug in the phone if more than one person is experiencing it straight off without even having used it, no bad early apps can be to blame since its happening straight off, such as with my friend. the next official updates for this phone need to arrive fast
