I don't know if someone else already came up with this idea, but i'm gonna post what i think would be more usefull and more practical to n900 users. Instead of the widget, you can make an app that looks like dialing pad in phone app, except that app will only work for ussd numbers. If this is hard to do, programmers ps forgive me, but i just posted my opinion.

Probably this week, or the next one, we'll be getting PR1.2 which supports USSD, so that will make those apps obsolete. Nonetheless, developers deserve a big thanks for bridging the period between the device release and Nokia's coming to its senses.

Indeed ! And even if the next phone version actually dials those codes, the widget itself may remain useful as a desktop shortcut...

You are wrong. USSD support in phone application WILL not make ussd-widget absolute.
Can phone application show me my balance (without having to enter number all the time)? Can it make queries time to time, to give me actial information? Can it cut off SPAM from operators? It provides a kind of service which is not available on ANY other phone.
That's why ussd-widget will not be obsolete and that's why I've written a widget, not a dialing application.

In what repository this USSD-pad should be foundable?
I searched both with name and with description, but application manager was unable to find it.
Code:
# apt-cache search ussd
ussd-widget - Widget, that executes USSD query and displays response text
ussd-common - Command line utility for making USSD queries
pexpect - Widget, that executes USSD query and displays response text
None of those.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I meant it will make it obsolete for this particular purpose (dialing ussd by dialing pad, that will come built-in with the phone application), not for all possible purposes.

Looks like it's not in the repositories, you can grab the .deb from https://garage.maemo.org/frs/downloa...1.07_armel.deb

ussd-widget installs both the desktop widget and the dialing pad application (in the menu).
