has it right it’s a new phone. I mean nokia only comes out with 1000 phones a year. Nokia has more phones on the market then any other manufacture. Look them up and you will be amazed how many they make. Remember that the N800 falls into there PHONE class NSeries even though its not a phone. I bet they did that because it runs Linux OS.

It’s a Phone by far. Screen size , slide out keyboard, dpad location, an internet tablet its a phone.

I bet the new N800 with have its own class ( Not Nseries. )

Adding the Nokia Internet Tablets to the Nseries was actually a good commitment by Nokia to the platform. Nseries devices are flagship multifunction multimedia machines. Plus they get a lot of attention.

do we know the screen size, the processor, the operating system, the thickness, weight? If its the same screen size or smaller, the processor is the same or weaker, and the operating system is not linux based, its chunky with the slide out keyboard, it weighs more than the n800, and allows GSM, I'll be skipping. Might as well save up for a laptop or UMPC. Plus I have a phone that deos what its supposed to do -that is make phone calls. Only take my IT when I need ok internet and GPS. Don't need an expensive all in one gadget that can become an all at once stolen or dropped, broken device.

My impression: this is one damn ugly device.

I have had Palm, Pocket PC, Palmtops, and cells form day one. They all lack what the N800 has. SO what I do now is use my N800 for web browsing, video, Remote Desktop, Mapping, etc...

And my Moto Cell for phone calls only ( I have Dun working )

ITs the best of all worlds. Great cell battery life that works as of phone. And I surf anywhere with my N800.

Any thing that I cant do on my N800 I just remote into my home machine and surf there.

I get all worlds in one. They way I have it set its soo easy to do anything.

Nothing to this date does what the N800 does in a low cost very high battery life device. Nothing. Name one product and I can tell you what sucks about it and why the N800 beats it.

No pocket PC, Palm device out there has the battery life , screen, FM, Res, tools that the N800 has. Thats a fact. Nothing.

I have 2 Cell phones here that are BRand new. Samsung i730 and T-Mobile WING. They have nothing on N800 paired with a normal BT CELL phone.

Only thing they do have is a PIM. I really dont need it if I get Outlook web mail with a N800.

We get 2 SDHC slots 16 GB fullyloaded. COME ON

I would like to have Citrix ICA client on the N800.

A good keyboard would make the internet tablet useful in many situations it is currently not. You can for example "sort of" blog with N800 but it isn't really fun.

Then again, Nokia first has to learn to make proper keyboards like Psion S5 had.

In any case I wouldn't mind seeing a new Maemo-based device on the market since both my N800 and 770 have been stolen from me recently (in separate incidents)

As to GPS, if it would work as badly as it does on N95, forget about it. 5 minutes for getting the initial fix, and you are not allowed to move. And the same show again if the fix gets lost on the way. Not by any means worth the battery drain.

This why you are better off having diffent devices for speical tasks. I love the fact that I have a Bluetooth GPS ( 55$) that I can use with my Laptop, N800, or for maybe a friends PocketPC phone.

And a 3rd Party device can work better the full brown GPS's
