Awesome !!! Looking forward to it

I think Nokia is waiting for Flash 10.1 since it has the most advanced mobile flash palying functions. Lets really hope they will add it to PR 1.3 or higher as for now everything goes as planned.

I was reading the thread and I though will it be possible to overclock Cortex A8 ? I read that some dude was able to overclock on of Palm's devices , is it possible for N900 ?

well the droid runs the same chipset and droid users have managed to overclock the chipset to around 1ghz stable

so yeah the chipset can be overclocked and iam sure if it can be done on google android then linux should be able to do it as well

Got the same issue here, and the SDK doesn't include support for Skype...

Think it misses something that allows it to support any voice calling whatsoever, plain old voice calls with google don't work either.

Not sure if this is always how the SDK has been?

We don't know exactly which chip N900 runs and don't know exactly which chip Droid runs. There are probably 50 versions of omap 3430 alltogether

Extract, compile and run:

Well this is new. Normally when you have the phone in portrait mode you can't access the status area (e.g. bluetooth, profiles etc.), but now we will so this is a step forward in trying to make the N900 work fully in portrait mode which would be nice.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't play with it unless you really know what you are doing, instead of posting complaints.

Expected problems: crashes, battery drain, poor system performance, full disk space & more - SERIOUSLY!
Don't play with IT if you haven't backed up your data or aren't prepared to re-flash your device.

YOU DO IT AT OWN RISK !!!!

Step-by-step how-to:

1. install rootsh
2. open xterm and type gainroot
3. get token to nokia repos with binary packs, see SDK installation
4. using vi add this repos to /etc/apt/source.list, put token from 3. to {NOKIA BINS KEY}

deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/sdk free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/tools free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/ fremantle/{NOKIA BINS KEY} nokia-binaries
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ fremantle free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ fremantle free non-free

5. save source.list
6. type (as root) in xterm apt-get update
7. type (as root) in xterm apt-get dist-upgrade

This will take some time N-joy Early release of PR1.2

In case of problems remember http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...ng_your_device

Maybe this will end of PR1.2 discussion, before official release :P
You REALLY REALLY shouldn't have posted this....
First of all, I tried it (knowing it will brick the device) when I posed this thread, it will only update the language files, and you'll end up removing mp-fremantle-pr-generic (breaking SSU and possibly causing reboots).
The closed binaries will NOT be updated (apt will say the following packages have been held back)
If your N900 is still alive, you may attempt to fix it by using apt-get -f install, but since the SDK repos are there, it will remove the existing binaries, meaning you'll have none of the applications on the main menu (contacts, phone etc...)

If anyone wants to try out the steps above, be prepared to reflash (actually be sure that you will reflash)
