I think you should put the method, links and relevant informations in the 1st post as I don't think anyone should have to go through all the 60 pages of this thread when looking for something that could easily be consolidated in the 1st post...

oh is there any way to get firmware information back in "about"?
Depends what you mean. As mentioned above, this only tweaks the range of speeds available for the N900 to automagically use so as long as its stable there should be no reason to alter it.

I had initially thought it would be easy to choose the speeds as there is a file /etc/pmconfig that would appear to configure the speeds. Obviously this is not the case however as that file still says 600Mhz max but with the 900Mhz kernel it is happily using 900Mhz max. So anyone got any clue what that file is about?

According to the front page news, I can req the scripts via PM. I do not know who to PM so I am requesting them to be PM'd to me.

Well to answer my own question you can't it has to be a "fiasco zImage"

dose anyone know how to convert to a "fiasco zImage"?
You can do the flashing from the n900 without the need of a pc (but if something goes wrong you do need a pc). I did it succesfully with the following command (as root):

Code:
fiasco-flasher -k <path-to-image> -f -R

Hello all,
I've been testing my N900 tried to all kernels (since 600 to 930 MHz) during 2 hours each one, and i have no issues with no one.

Off course 2 hours is nothing to test all possible freezings, battery life and other issues, but for now i'll stand on normal 900 Mhz Kernel.

What most of us want is a kernel that boost our n900 performance, not to drain so much battery life, and with stability ! Right ? (or not..lol).

So..lets continue put here our testing results.
At the end we can have a good % of a good kernel to apply on most cases.

For now, working with 900 Mhz kernel ( a little..afraid of..increase 50%..ahah..this is loving stuffff, thanks a lot for all developers! )

Sorry for my little poor english,

Regards,,
