Sounds good to me. I guess now someone needs to provide a way to use it in the default media player?

Cool! I wonder if this is a hardware adjustment, or only active if the applet is open?

Well, gstreamer will be open still. Pretty sure it's just adjusting the hardware or gstreamer software EQ. Closing the applet shouldn't stop the EQ from happening.

If you install the MGR flavour and uninstall current mafw-gst-renderer that comes with MAFW, it will work with default media player: it just replaces one renderer with another

Yes, you're right. Applet is only needed if you want to change equalizer.

Well, really not needed, as equalizer can be changed by setting appropriate gconf values. But I think it's more cool to use the equalizer than setting them by hand :-)

This is good news, since the EQ would function no different from any other media player- you adjust through the interface, but the parameters are adjusting the hardware settings.

By this premise, the EQ values should stay even with a cold reboot.

Just wondering (not sure if I should bother starting another thread on it) if the N900 will be able to play .ape files. They are from Monkey Audio Codec, and I think is a closed codec, but I've found better compression than FLAC or LPAC files.

Also, what would be useful would be to have the option of NOT embedding the art in the music file, and say, having the picture file having the same name as the album title and being displayed. I've found embedding the album art in mp3 files can inflate the files unnecessarily, especially if you really DO store an album there. A 12 track album will save the album art 12 times.

I installed this from Extras-Devel (the only place I could find it). I could not find any description of how it works though. Is it launched from the CLI? Also, from this page, it looks as though it is for Maemo4. Does it still work under Maemo5 ? TIA.
