I have been using the 900mhz kernel now for a day and the speed is amazing, just played psx4all about ~45mins and it never got hot. Battery is draining quiker but that was exptected, but so far so good.

But that would be a very tough decision after experiencing great increase in speed....

Lets see
So what happens if after a few months some of the overclocked devices just die? We all know how hungry the gizmo sites are for big headlines (and clicks), even if there were just a dozen bricked N900s running @1050 MHz. So would it go like:
1) Intel and AMD and the mainboard manufacturers, where the blue smoke is always the user's fault - not hurting the manufacturer's brand.
2) Shocking news of burning Nokia smartphones, which is way too easy to overclock. Most people would probably read just the headlines, and that wouldn't be good for N900.

In my personal opinion, Nokia should actually be there first before anything happens, and put up an overclocking party. They should invite a few famous overclocking teams around the globe with 100 N900s to grill. That's when they could also tell the public audience not to overclock their devices, as it would possibly damage their smartphones. This would - however - promote N900 as the ultimate powertoy with no limits. It certainly would be something that no other phone manufacturer has ever done.

I don't think anyone has seen it yet......N900.... running at 900MHz... I think it was meant to be.

Anyway, the "ZOMG TI'z datah sheetz sez continuz uz @ 600jiggahurtz srsly reducez teh lifetimz!!1!11!!!! " crew still don't seem to be fussed that even their STOCK N900 WILL in fact run continously at 600MHz all the time whilst on charge and no one has commented on how long their N900 stays on charge yet......

And for the "Settings --> About" crew, mine still shows the correct information, for reference I flashed in the following order from the phone:

700MHz
800MHz
900MHz
900MHz - 500MHz DSP.

Awesome thread guys

Flashed the 930/500 kernel and everything runs fine and so very fast. (So far lol)

my results of the sunspider javascript test -
11054.6ms using nightly fennec.
24863.0ms using MicroB.

Will flash to 900/500 and see if it changes much.

You realize that people are overclocking the Droid the same way? Overclocking is really not that bad, I mean sure if people run it at 1.5 Ghz its going to break, but most seem to be running at 800/900 mhz, which is within tolerance kinda.

i agree. thought it was brilliant they did that exact thing with the developers.

this would be great and truely show its power and open-ness!

The crew who designed the hardware, yes...

How many times do I have to tell you that this is not the case?
