Someone has converted the TightVNC server's HTTP interface to use AJAX, so you can control a PC without installing any software on the 770.

Tapping produces a spread of popup buttons to perform functions like right-click, double-click, drag, drop, scroll, etc.

It seemed to work best wth minimo. Opera produced the popup in the wrong place sometimes. It was sluggish to use, but I'm using a BT connection (thanks to those helpful posts about setting up PAN). I normally use the usual VNC client on Wifi.

I suspect it would still be slower even on the same connection, so I doubt that it'll replace the VNC client, but I thought it was at least an interesting idea.

Now I've finished, I'll mention the one thing I held off saying until now - this was actually intended for the iPhone! So maybe it's the first example of iPhone-related developments being useful on other portable devices.

I've been using this software on my iPhone for the last 10 days or so, and it is awesome:

It lets you access files, stream music and video, plus you can control your desktop, a la VNC. It can also take snapshots from your Mac's iSight camera and it can be used as a remote control for iTunes.. Right now it is Mac only, but they have been putting out updates for it almost daily, adding new features and bug fixes.

I tried accessing the network address from my N800, but no dice...something in there makes it Safari only. It would really be neat if it worked on the N800, but the program linked at the top of this thread looks like it is very similar...

@orbitalcomp - have you tried spoofing the user-agent?, i'm not sure how minimo works, but if it works like the linux firefox (or iceweasel whatever) you can run it from the command line with an argument to change the user-agent

That's a good idea, but I'm not using minimo, I'm using Opera...I'll play around with it some more this weekend and see if I can get it working on the N800...
