Has anyone thought of / in the process of developing an audio editor?
Wouldn't have to be anything fancy, but be able to open wav / mp3's and do some simple cutting / trimming, maybe add effects if anyone is feeling brave lol. I've thought about it for a while, and I think it could be very handy especially for people wanting to trim audio files to be used as ringtones.

Just another idea, when finished editing, perhaps have an option to export / save as?

Maybe porting an app from this list to maemo is possible?

A port would be the way to go.

Although it requires probably more work than the average app as this kind of software tends to be feature rich with lots of menus/buttons.

At school today I was actually thinking about this as I wanted some on the spot ring tones but had no way to edit my mp3s. I've never written anything practical and had some ideas but wasn't exactly sure how to approach this.

Not necessarely, if its just to trim / cut audio, it could be as simple as loading an mp3/wav, and inputting start and end times, and then execute by pressing the "trim" button, about as basic as it can get really. (I think)
But more features are always more favourable lol. Not saying were looking for a sound forge clone on the N900, but anything extra is always a bonus

Could someone with understanding of audio software and the n900 trim down that list to feasible alternatives?

After my uninformed quick glance at that list, I'd nominate Audacity, Ecasound, Sweep and ReZound to a first round of being looked upon buy someone who has any skills and knowledge, unlike myself.

well im not into coding but this is what the above software is written in.

" If you have your nose in code much of the time, you are welcome to join in fixing bugs and creating new features. Jokosher is written in Python and uses the GNOME platform and the GTK widget set. The audio engine is powered by GStreamer, and we use Cairo for some of the graphics.
