Leafpad works perfectly.. It seems anything that is not already running works fine, if i try to run something like image-viewer i get

Code:
X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.
The application 'image-viewer' lost its connection to the display localhost:10.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.
Anyway time to go home =)

I don't quite understand what you are trying to do here. Are you trying to run apps on the N900 and display on a PC, or vice versa? ssh can cope with all this stuff on its own, without having to install xauth. It could be that your use of sudo is losing the display authorisation. Why are you using sudo in this way?

Yeah.. don't see the point here either. I am only doing this the other way if i need to run something on my PC from the n900. Just boot up terminal on the n900 and connect to PC with ssh.

ssh -X user@ip-number

That's pretty interesting
Please keep posting.
While there is no problem getting X forwarded from PC to my N810, I've been unable to do the reverse and couldn't understand what was wrong.

Well im not sure what peoples point is here, i tried vnc and it's really slow and barely usable, however if you get the forwarding going right it's fine. And this is ssh, and you can't do it without xauth, i tried that already. I mainly just want this set up for work, i can just ssh in and hopefully by the end of it be able to text from my pc without all the laggyness of vnc.

Will post up tomorrow and upload the file if anyone else wants to try it, and hopefully get all the system apps forwarded too.

I am trying to ssh into apps on my n900 from my pc. ssh can't do it without xauth, i was not using sudo i was logged in as root via ssh. I tried just running things without xauth and the program loads on the n900 instead of the pc, so i tried
Code:
set display 192.168.0.x 0
and
Code:
export display
with no luck.
