I'm having problems with Refreshing of list of packages in app manager after upgrade to latest image for my Nokia 770 SU-18_2006SE_3.2006.49-2_PR_F5_MR0_ARM.bin
My Nokia can't connect to default application catalog. Address seems to be OK.
Log file looks like:
osso-application-installer 4.22, UI version 1
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com mistral/user Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com_certified_dists_mist ral_user_binary-armel_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Failed to fetch http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com...al/Release.gpg Could not connect to catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com:80 (1.0.0.0), connection timed out

I can browse internet, so connection seems to be fine. But when I'm trying to refresh application list the system says : connecting, then downloading and then Unable to refresh list. Last refresh that is shown has strange date: 12/31/1969. In reality, no one refresh was done after flashing with new OS.
I reflashed it back to initial version. Results are the same.
How I can fix this? I played with my Nokia 770 for a week. It is really great device. I'm missing it now.

The Nokia 770 after its latest update perhaps does not have any more applications to update as the good people at Nokia has stopped supporting it. There are not many new Software and utilities being developed for the Nokia 770 anymore. So I would suggest that if your Nokia 770 works well then stick with it. Nokia essentially has washed its hands off of the N770. I cannot tell you why your Nokia 770 shows a date of 1969. Perhaps you need to figure out some configuration issues involved.

repository problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One or more of your repository does not work and cause the problem. Menu>Tools>Appl manager>Tools>log will tell you which repository is NOT working. go and disable it will solve the problem, Menu>Tools>Appl Manager>Tools>Appl catalogue, select the offending repository and Edit>uncheck the enable button. Sometimes the log is not clear, you will have to work your way by disable each repository one by one.\

Post back if question,

Bun

This usually helps when wrong repository is added. I had this experience with my
previous installation. But the problem is that I can't disable 1'st (official) repository. And I'm not able what is wrong with configuration. Date looks really strange for me. Tried to change date in my clock, then reloaded. The same result. I felt that with reflashing this problem should gone. But it is not. Reformatted MMC card.
It is possible that something is corrupted, but after successful reflash this should be gone or reflasher should report a problem. I don't know about Nokia's flashing
util, but this is just common sence. And cash should be also clean. But this strange date is still there.

I constantly experience the same problem on my n800.
In my case I can successfully update the list as follows:

1) After it fails the first time. I go to 'Menu>Tools>Application manager>Tools>log'
... and click on 'Clear'. When I then refresh the package list again. it updates without a hitch .

OR

2) Just running the update process twice in a row also works for me.

I know this solution sounds too simple, judging by the log you posted, but why not give it a try

If that does not solve it, you could try the workaround stated at the end of your log:
'You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems'

I am not familiar with all of the 'apt-get' command options.

If you don't have it, you can get maemo hackers Xterm, to run apt-get, here:

I wish you luck solving your problem!

Hmm this sounds very interesting to me, so there is some part of the OS that doesn't get rewritten during a flash?

Is it possible that something in wireless dsl router setup would allow to connect to internet without any problems but will result in failure when app manager will try to get access to repository?

Have you tried doing it from different wireless hot-spots?

Not yet. But I'll do this.
And apt-get update does not help. Required some efforts to make it run properly, become root, chmod for some files, but without success with this
problem.

Is it possible that something is settled up in a wrong way in wireless dsl modem/router, so that internet connection is OK but I can't download and refresh list of applications? May be some specific ports should be opened?
Besides this, is it possible that app manager is trying to write to read only file or directory and what files should be accessed and CHMOD'ed in this case?
Where application catalog is located?
