coming this coming that. the changelog for 1.2 has been released, separate chunks of the packages have been uploaded, but why not just put up the damn update?

more importantly, unless the OVI store puts up a lot of apps that are actually "USEFUL" and "NON-DEMO", nokia's most powerful phones won't even make it as a top smartphone.

Sure our n900s have multitasking, 5mp camera, keyboard and decent CPU & GPU, but without apps to utilize these hardware assets, they're nothing. "OVI STORE FOR n900 COMING SOON" isn't what we need.

Honestly, I'm ready to accept that n900 won't have a future anymore. Well, more power to nokia IF they are able to uplift its standing.

@ Jack6428

True. But if it's going to be released in 1-2-3... months....there is no reason to stay with N900... it was one of the decision making point - quick support from Maemo team. Now it feels like there is no development except couple of applications...

We still suffering from bugs everyday of delay in firmware. Any announcement would be nice, you know just to decide for yourself whether you ready to wait and stick to this OS or move on.

Yeah I am with you. I am also getting increasingly frustrated with the unchanged number of "Demo" Apps, and no updates on the Horizon. This will be my last Nokia device for sure. It's not they are doing things completely wrong, it's just they only do little steps in the right direction instead of doing one big step to satisfy everybody involved! That's what annoys me. I want a finished product that satisfies my needs at the time I bought it. What I do not want is to constantly chase a manufacturer to fix things: an unfixed and very limited Ovi Map App, the Ones in the store are laughable, and v1.2 is still not out.

Sorry, but for me the Chapter Nokia has been closed (and yes, I know the n900 was marketed as a Phone+MiniComputer, as well as a 4/5 Step-Device. Still, that's no excuse).

guys, lets not depend on firmware updates to fix bugs. There will always be bugs even if the current/previous ones are fixed by a firmware update. Let's accept that the n900 isn't complete. But even a dozen commercial apps which are useful to at least make our ownership of this device worth our while, SHOULD be there. Even if we have to pay for apps as long as they're useful.

Many of the programmers here in the org are trying their best to provide good apps but since there isn't enough motivation, most of them aren't updated regularly.

I considered playing games with my n900 when i bought it. after the demo of angry birds, its been collecting dust.. i really want that roller coaster game..

(sorry about my rants)

anyway, my speculation is: the update will be released this month, but again bugs will surface, thus repeating the cycle of firmware updating until Meego is completed and the new device comes out.

It's not about programers are doing bad job, lazy or something. Don't get me wrong I really admire of work they do, but it's not enough to make platform sucesfull. It's just not enough 10-15-20 people to rule the whole direction as MAEMO. And there are bugs you can live with, there are bugs that show you the whole incompletion of OS. Such is frozen phone, missing calls\sms.... all this things should not be there if you have plans to sell a smartPHONE. IMO

a) This is a discussion thread. We discuss. I see zero reason to invoke admin wrath. Either it's by the rules or it ain't.

b) I can't even fathom how some people here (I'm not pointing fingers) can actually come up with a straight face and say that if you don't get updates, you're moving on.

First of all, *what* the heck do you do for a living that allows you to switch devices every 5 months (or less), and 600E devices at that? I'm looking at 2 degrees here, a nice home and 3 cars. I still feel like tossing such a device because an update is late a waste of actual, real life, you know, money. Who bought it for you?

Second of all, "I didn't get it and now I'm taking my toys and leaving" is quite the opposite of the attitude I'd expect from people who can actually afford the cutting edge of mobile technology. There are people driving cars cheaper that this device.

Bah. Humans.
