I'd like to get a cheap usb cable for data and charging from ebay. But I've heard that some cables have a charging issue.

Anyone can recommend the usb cable for data and charging?

Thanks for any comments in advance.

actually its harder to get one that does data and charge

genuine is the way to go.

Basically, a data cable will charge when connected to either a standards-conforming charger, or to a computer which will allow enough power to be drawn.

A "charger" cable is a cable that specifically has the data lines disabled and shorted out, to work with nonstandard usb chargers.

The best you could do is a cable with a switch between data and charging, but then if you connected it to a PC with the switch accidentally set to charging, you might fry your PC...

Isnt the one that comes with the n900 suitable ?

Im sure mine does charging and data transfer at the same time

Maybe s/he wants to have one at work and one at home or something similar?

i got a normal cable for a few quid, but problem is it only charges when the phone is switched off...

Yes! exactly I'd like to get a one, the CA-101 cable which came with n900 for my office desktop.

I've already pulled the trigger for the cheap one ($1.99) from ebay. I'm guessing that even though the cable cannot charge my n900, it would work for the data transfer at least.

I'll update when I get the cable.

I got the cable from ebay last week and have used for weekend. It seem to work well for both charging and data transfer.

It was an worth investment. If you want to know the seller, pm to me.
