I recommend to
1) copy the template to your mydocs (when not in mass storage mode)
Code:
cp /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /home/user/MyDocs/kernel.txt
2) USB mount it to edit it on the PC. unmount and unplug USB, and try it with
Code:
sudo /usr/sbin/kernel-load /home/user/MyDocs/kernel.txt
repeat 2) until you're happy.
To permanently install this new configuration
Code:
sudo rm -f /etc/default/kernel-power
sudo cp /home/user/MyDocs/kernel.txt /etc/default/kernel-power
sudo /usr/sbin/kernel-load

Make a copy (to PC) of: /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal
Edit that copy of 'ideal' you've made. Change these values to:

To everybody who tests the latest kernel-power-flasher versions:
if it breaks something, please
1. try it with the standard 250-600 settings
2. report your settings or which template you used
3. check whether it works with the stock kernel
a simple "doesn't work" it not very helpful.

Try it with more sane settings, i.e. <900 MHz.

My kernel includes all patches from the PR1.2 SDK. It don't know about Lehto's
and nor whether the "real" PR1.2-forever will ship additional patches.

i read that information somewhere here but there are items that have been deleted and changed!!!!

you seem to have forgotten a space in the command

Code:
ln -s /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/my-default /etc/ideal/kernel-power

but now error
ln: kernal-power: file exists

1200 is unstable for 99% of the devices.
everything above 900Mhz is definitely bad for your device.
If you seriously want to damage it you need to compile a new kernel or play with n900fly

What is this limitation? I would like at least 1200 MHz not 1150...

I can directly install this kernel. (the maemo25) or should I uninstall first Lehto´s kernel ..
Thanks for help.
you can directly install it. lehto's kernel will be overwritten.

hmmm.....as overclocking steps and warning says, "every n900 is unique, what works for others might not work for you"

in my case, all Lehto's kernels worked for me without any problems such as stuttering,

titan's kernels gave me a re-flash in each kernel (the new ones, others are okay). titan's kernels are fully customizable, that makes me edit voltages. sweet

i know one that have the exact opposite of my case.

there are many user who's devices are stable on both kernels,

FYI: my plans for the next version (update probably Monday) of kernel-power-settings are:
* MIN/MAX_FREQ will be specified as MHz, not KHz (possibly with backwards compatibility)
* new fields AVOID_FREQS (by default 125MHz), IGNORE_NICE_LOAD
* "kernel-settings list/save" to show or save the current settings
the kernel will change 600->599MHz and continue to ignore telephone app's request to downclock to 600.
this is hopefully the last set of noticeable changes.
Then it's up to GUI apps to modify the configuration file.

the v25 kernel does already support the "avoid frequencies" setting
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=227
with this you can, for example, activate only the freqs 125 500 850
or every other subset. could be please test this new feature?

thanks to everybody who's been helping in this thread.
please remember to add your answers to the wiki http://wiki.maemo.org/Overclocking

things are stabilizing only lately.
by default, my kernel should boot with exactly the stock kernel's settings.
if this doesn't work then tell me more.

the kernel is so customizable that you try all different settings (incl. all of lehto's kernels)
online without reflashing or rebooting. some of them may work, other's not.
