http://maemobriefs.blogspot.com/2010...-renderer.html

I followed those instructions. This is the error message I get:

Code:
dpkg: error processing mafw-gst-eq-renderer_0.1.2009.47-1-1mgr_armel.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
  mafw-gst-eq-renderer_0.1.2009.47-1-1mgr_armel.deb
What am I doing wrong? I have been trying literally all night to get this working...Anyone got any ideas? They would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks guys.

EDIT: It seems like I have to save the "mafw-gst-eq-renderer_0.1.2009.47-1-1mgr_armel.deb" file to my device first. Fair enough, but where do I save it?

Looks like you are in the wrong directory. Where did you save the file?

For example if you saved it from the PC using Mass Storage mode or via the N900 web browser into the root directory, you would actually need to do:
Code:
sudo gainroot
cd /home/user/MyDocs
dpkg -i mafw-gst-eq-renderer_0.1.2009.47-1-1mgr_armel.deb
apt-get remove mafw-gst-renderer
reboot
Or you could try:
Code:
cd /
find -name 'mafw-gst-eq-renderer_0.1.2009.47-1-1mgr_armel.deb'
That should eventually tell you where you saved the file. You will then know which directory to "cd" into.

At first I had no idea that I was even supposed to save it, but now that is clear to me so where SHOULD I save it?

Well so you can follow the instructions above its probably easiest to download it to your PC and then copy it over to your N900 in Mass Storage mode. Then follow the edited version of the instructions. Ignore the second block, that (as you can probably tell) just performs a search looking for the file but we will already know where it is.

You can download it straight to the N900 with the web browser, but its hard explaining where to save it from there as the "root" in the web browser is actually named whatever you called your N900, so its rather confusing.

Also bear in mind that when PR1.2 comes out it is almost guaranteed to wipe Equaliser with an updated version of the normal renderer. You may then have to download an updated version that is compatible with the new firmware.

OK great thanks a lot! Finally got it working. I think I have finally figured something useful out, but like you said in the last post, it's hard to explain. Either way thanks!

Thanks a lot Viqsi ^^ And yeah the sarcasm was noted. It really was a "detailed step-by-step" guide wasn't it
