We already discussed the demo over at GitHub but the game is Mr Nutz and it seems to be broken as once I have loaded the savegame and the game has finished loading, the emulator crashes/closes.

Its hard to tell though, as due to the broken joystick controls I loaded a different save game to what I tested with before, so I can't be sure it ever worked on that particular save game.

Release 3 replaced FAME with Cyclone for m68k processor emulation, so I would bet that savestates are not backwards compatible.

The save state simply did not load at all so I gave up on that.

The crash was trying to load the games own save game facility, as you have to choose an empty or existing save game in order to start the game.

It clearly loads the save game and everything as I see the in-game screen flash up for a millisecond sometimes, or the sound plays a few seconds, before the emulator locks up or quits entirely. Will have to wait and see once the joystick problem is fixed.

Keep in mind that additional floppy drives eat RAM fast (approx 50k per drive). 150k less ram could brake some games. Option to turn them off would be nice, real amiga users had only one anyway.
...or add more ram.

I see that emulator in fact has A600 or A500plus configuration (1MB Chip memory and no fast/slow memory.)

Stock A500 had 512k chip memory and usualy aditional card with 512k slow memory (pretty much as a standard). (Amiga workbench will report slow memory as fast memory... to avoid confusion.)

Some games and demos require fast or slow ram and will not see 1MB chip memory as an expansion, so it would be nice if we had memory configuration option somewhere. (Example is Crashpoint demo by Addonic... This one will also insult you if you don't have enough RAM. )

uae4all 1rc2-4 should sort your keyboard/joystick keyboard issues.

So, you're saying that 512Chip + 512Slow would be better option?

If that is the only option, probably. However I personally would think 1MB chip with a toggle to enable say 1MB fast, would be the better option.

I owned an A600 with 2MB chip (1MB stock, 1MB upgrade) and used a little application to emulate fast RAM and never had any problems getting things to work. So naturally, that is the configuration I would be aiming for. I'm not sure how slow memory works, can games which detect that use it in the same way as chip RAM?

Definately. 512k Chip, 512k Slow, 1 drive and V1.3 ROM would be prefered for maximum compatibility.

1MB chip is cool, but pointless unless you have ECS chipset,
2MB is way cooler, but also pointless unless you emulate AGA chipset.

Does this change if using ROM 2.0? I believe later coverdisks used FFS and I know for certain my copy of Deluxe Galaga only works with the 2.04 ROM because I put it on a FFS formatted floppy. (as I owned an A600 there was no reason not to)

So the question is, does 2.0 use more RAM than 1.3 and so in turn would it actually be useful to have 1MB chip?

Its kinda mute at the moment anyway, Mr Nutz is still crashing on rc2-4 but worked fine on rc1, so there are more important issues to deal with right now I suspect than RAM allocation.
