Hi Guys

I'm hoping that you might be able to help me out with a couple of questions I have regarding the Nokia 770, and whether it would fullfill my requirements.

My main use would be music (not as a pocket MP3 player, more as a plug into car stereo, home stereo player). What is the sound quality like and does it support 320kbps tracks? Secondly, does the player support folder browsing, nested folders and the like? For example, could I drag aand drop a folder named (for example) U2 onto the memory card, and populate that folder with other folders (eg U2 albums) each of which is filled with MP3 tracks? Does the Nokia have any control over the order that tracks are played (random, repeat, etc) or allow playlists?

My other use would be as a PDF / TXT file ebook reader - is it any good at that?

Another use would be note taking (pure straight text, no need for fancy fonts, etc).

How easy / how much software is there available for it?

Finally, is it any good for viewing movies?

Sorry for the waffle but the Nokia SEEMS to do what I want but without getting my hands on one, I can't be sure - MANY THANKS! : )

Built in PDF reader is OK, use FBReader for (non-DRM) eBooks.

It has a "Notes" application, for note taking. It's not a word processor, for that there is AbiWord (new version coming soon).

Very easy. Loads. Check the downloads section of maemo.org, maemo garage, search the interweb, keep an eye on Maemo Planet.

Thanks to the efforts of Serge, mplayer works very well on the 770. Use Media Converter to convert videos into 770 format for best viewing performance.

Many thanks for your help Milhouse - you answered all my questions within my exacting standards so please receive this complimentary (and manly) handshake.

I've now ordered one (with a 1 gig rs-mmc card) from Expansys so, hopefully, I'll get it next week (very hopeful there).

Laughed my pants off when I saw it being used by Mr Bendy in the Silver Surfer movie.

Pants now firmly in place, so cheers for the info.
