Hi all, I got a few replies, but didnt work...
I tried
echo 125000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/avoid_frequencies

but phone app still resets MIN to 125mhz..

Can someone tell me the command to UNDO this:
echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load

It seems to me Titan said not long ago that the 125 Mhz it is reset to in this case is ignored. I haven't checked up on him!

Hi,
If you use Windows, use WinSCP to get root over ssh to N900.
Then go to throught the file system, /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load (and others), and change the values you want!

Can do it for this one too, and many others:
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/avoid_frequencies

Cheers.

I put 125000 in
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/avoid_frequencies

and what do I put in
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load..

i tried 0 and 1 and even left it blank.. nothing worked.. it just keeps going to 125 after a call

It is difficult to say. The total energy from battery definitely increases with higher frequency even you run with low voltage. And most of that energy dissipates on CPU.

Just to understand better that a small example. I ran a stock kernel and measured a current from battery under different frequencies. The 250MHz (playing MP3 music) takes only around 110mA but 600MHz (hard loop in shell) takes TEN times more - around 1400mA (screen is dark etc). But CPU VDD1 voltage still differs only 1.26 times (1.58 in square).

So, the biggest power consumption increase is in frequency increase.
You still may have more bigger CPU current under high frequency which heats CPU more even with decreased voltage.

one mor thing to clarify, as i read through this thread, what is really dangerous is "locking" the cpu's frequency @550mhz+, in overclocking, the cpu freqs flactuate and is not locked to any voltages.

does this mean overclocking is somewhat safer (not as safe as the stock freq) as long as you do not lock it to a freq.

In my best knowledge I think CPU frequency doesn't fluctuate without software (it is not so in Intel Core *i platform - it has some automatic frequency "boost").
