Yep, and got it working..

I had one letter mistype (old eyes, small font) in the dbus command.

To Ruskie: also fcron works like charm now with my profiles.

Thanks, these kind of nive things make n900 shine (though they are not for casual phone users..)

Hmm, I'm trying the installation at http://wiki.maemo.org/Fcron, but when I get to apt-get install adduser, it says Couldn't find package adduser. I have tired to do a apt-get update (that worked well), but same problem after that. I have tried to search here and the wiki, but (as a noob) cant find the solution. Is there a repository I should add, and if so, how? Or am I missing something obvious
PS. I have N900

Try enabling -extras and -devel, then update, install and disable them after. You'll be safe, just don't touch other packages while they are enabled.

Thanks for the reply! When you say enable -devel, I guess you mean Fremantle Extras-devel from http://repository.maemo.org/, and that means http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/pool/fremantle, eg:
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/ fremantle free non-free =
Code:
Catalog name: Maemo devel
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free
And then, even it says "You have 11 updates", I dont upgrade them, I only install adduser and then disable devel? Is that right understod? Sorry for asking, but dont want to do anything stupid...

Yep, that's exactly it. And I checked, you don't need -devel, adduser is also in extras-testing which is preferred.

Oh and you should manage (add, remove, enable, disable...) the repositories from App manager not command line.

I have followed the wiki and have fcron running The only problem i am facing is that it doesnt start at boot up. I have the fcron file in /etc/event.d as specified in the wiki
Code:
description "FCron daemon"
start on started XSESSIONS_STARTING
console none
service
exec /usr/sbin/fcron -f
respawn
any idea what might be wrong?

I did follow the fcron for the script. Not sure what is wrong with it. I have now modified it to the following which works
Code:
start on started hildon-desktop
stop on starting shutdown
console none
service

script

/etc/init.d/fcron start

end script

Hi all,
I'm new to Maemo twitting but I really like the idea of this app after reading this thread and http://wiki.maemo.org/Fcron.
Could you please advise me on the following:
the scripts - how do I go about generating them: can I just copy&paste the text in Notepad?
And what extension those files must have?
It also says "have to be marked executable (chmod +x script.sh) to work." - what do I do special to make them so?
And the last - "editor = /usr/bin/vi" - can this config be edited in, say, MC?
Thanks in advance to all of you!
