I am using titan's ideal kernel @ 500-1GHz. however. after a phone call the minimum frequency resets to 250MHz (I know this is normal.)

I also know that you can run echo 125000 250000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/avoid_frequencies or somthing along those lines which prevents this reset from happening, but only until I reboot.

my question is, any way to permanently lock minimum @500MHz?

Here are updated measurement results. I didn't switch off display during last measurements, so those are not valid values.

Kernel parameters are following
Code:
UP_THRESHOLD=75
SAMPLING_RATE=150000
VDD1_OPPS_VSEL="30 20 25 30 33 38 45 45 48 48 54 54 60 67 72"
DSP_OPPS_RATE="90 90 180 360 400 430 430 430 430 500 500 500 500 520 520"
MIN_FREQ=500000
MAX_FREQ=850000
SMARTREFLEX_VDD1=0
SMARTREFLEX_VDD2=0
Results in Offline-mode with 12s delay, screen locked.
Code:
@ 125 MHz       |    @ 250MHz
Run #1  Run #2  |    Run #1  Run #2
306     308     |    456     462
4033    4036    |    4012    4012
124800  124800  |    249600  249600
2       2       |    3       3
2       2       |    3       3
----------------------------------
@ 500MHz        |    @ 850 MHz
Run #1  Run #2  |    Run #1  Run #2
700     684     |    1279    1276
4020    4017    |    3996    3993
500000  500000  |    849920  849920
4       4       |    10      10
3       3       |    3       3
EDIT:
500MHz seems to be most efficient frequency from power consumption point (least uW/Hz), 850MHz is quite close too. In-line what egoshin said earlier.

Based on this information, I'll do more idle trials during nightimes to find out if 500MHz (fixed, single freq) is also best when low load.
EDIT2:
Based on graph below (snapshots from Battery-eye), there seems to a small advantage to use both 125MHz and 500MHz instead of only 500MHz. Difference is not too big.
Some screen captures in Battery consumption analysis thread, post #211.

/usr/sbin/kernel-load /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/lv
Then I check the Conky and I dont see any changes? it doesnt seem to be any different than stock settings.
all of the settings are default 250-600mhz (exept ideal) and you have to set the frequency after, the easiest way to check its working is to try ideal, if this works for u should set 500-850, after that to when u use the other settings copy and paste this into xterminal,

echo 250000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 850000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

(replace 250000&850000 for the freqs u want to use, health check will give u a list of available freqs)
be conservative to start with and work up slowley and read the overclocking wiki thoroughly everything u need is in there.

Careful with this! You don't want to set it to 8.5 GHz!

Sorry ive just read ur post properly, i guess thats the problem with posting on the fly, ive now edited my post to 850mhz, hope the guy didn't use it as it was, although i think it would just not work set outside of the available freqs...... confirmed

I've been clocking all the way up to 1.15ghz and its been rock solid, although i never leave it so high for long just to play psx4all, i use ideal settings for browsing and when i need a bit more speed, and underclock 250-500 for idle (still struggling to make 125 stick)
all in all ive had nothing but positive results, with a few tweaks im now getting much improved battery life and have had zero overheating or data curuption, (i think im one of the lucky ones with a super chip)

What voltage are you using at 1150?

using titan v25 and my own config based on xlv and ideal (xlv config with 500-850mhz and 250mhz with vdd1@33 not 30 although supposedly not used as 500mhz min setting) noticed that often uses 250mhz even though not set to go that low . not phone call reseting only using web over 3g . any suggestions as to the cause of this ?

flashing my n900 back to the stock nokia's kernel.

overclocking is so awesome! though i dont think i need it. maybe when i got faster than the n900, i will OC again.

@ Gusse

Did you try to switch SmartReflex ON and measure?

i read that overclocking "may not" damage hardware but can corrupt data (if you have a good chip). i do not know if i understood what that was said.

i also notice that heat only comes on my device when im playing with emulators (even in stock kernel)
