I have been using my n900 for a while and i posted a thread before about the problem with how it takes awhile for a new message to show up on my phone even tho i hear the sound before and some told me to clean up my rootf but the person never replied back to how to do it so i was wondering if any1 has any advice on how to clean up my rootf or how to fix the whole taking a while to open a new message problem.

Hi Killajat

There's already a thread going showing how to clear up a bit of space etc see: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ghlight=rootfs

There's also a good link to the wiki page different to the one above. Very useful tips.

Obviously be carefully following a few of the suggestions.

I dont really. Maybe a very short delay but not enough for me to think there's an issue.

Have you actually checked how much root space you have left??
in terminal type: df -h
and scroll up a bit to see the remaining rootfs.

Thats more than enough. It shouldn't be affecting opening conversations. I found disabling extras testing and devel freed up an extra 10 or so....

that probably happends always when hw is under stress.

e: and unstable apps can naturally hog a lot resources causing problems you mentioned. even if those don't seem to be running
