I didn't know that now the voice is working. When did Nokia update the maps?

Nokia have announced the new N8 today and were keen to push N8's Ovi Maps package.

Now Nokia have built Ovi Maps for the QT-based Symbian^3 OS on the N8, I guess we are close to a QT-based Ovi Maps package for N900.

We are advised that the (hopefully imminent) PR1.2 update will bring QT compatability and apps can be easily ported to other QT-based OS's.

I have limited understanding of the technicalities - can anyone shed some more light on this?

@HugoSon:

Thanks for that - I hope Nokia will now lead by example; this is one of the key facilities reported as missing in many people's experience of N900.

Now do I buy Sygic in the meantime...
