Em, the built in call log does show numbers (do you have the latest firmware?). Click on a contact to view the number they called you from. It's not all-in-one, true, but there's little room in there.

yes u r right. but the thing I was lukin for is:

1. the extended call log features must b embedded into the default call ui of n900. it should't require any app to be installed for that.

2. as chris said, the callers number should be displayed along with the name of the caller;--- which one number they used if they are using more than one number.

3. when ever there is a call (dialled, recieved, missed) added to the call log, then also the number from which the call came or to which the call was made should be shown in the recent call history when we open the phone app.

4. In conversations the number of the sender or to which the sms was sent should b shown in the list of conversations, or other alternative for this would be if we open a conversation to read its full text then the number from the sender should be displayed along with the number to which we sent a sms msg(if we sent a msg to the person on his/her different number) while having 2 way a conversation.

hope I am clear till this point. if anything more comes across my mind I'll add it in this thread. plz do pay attention to this.

Agree with CooL_Hunk. What we would like is to reduce the number of clicks needed to find the number someone was calling from or being called to.

The font does not have to be huge so therefore should not take up much space. Would probably just mean a bit more scrolling if you make/receive lots of calls but at least saves you having to click the contact to see the number.

Like they are now.

Save you one click. Maybe I'm missing something. Even if listed as you speak, the font would be really small to fit a 14-digit number.

Fixed in PR 1.2.

Also, each number gets a separate conversation. You can't miss-send.

So, basically, you want to push the numbers in the phone list as small as they are so you'll be saved a click? Maybe I'm missing something.

Even if they did show you the number, you'll likely not recognize it, unless you know all number by heart. Also, you might not want to bring the phone 10 cm from the face to see a number.

Maybe with per-number labels we get somewhere.

It can be done on a low-end Android device (HTC Tattoo/Click), which has a low screen resolution, and it's really readable. Plus I'm pretty sure there's enough space onthe N900 screen to squeeze in a phone number on there, especially considering the size of the blank box between the Caller Name and the Answer/Reject buttons.

EDIT: I am of course talking about the Incoming Call screen, I have no problem with the current implementation of the Call Log.

We all lament the waste of the call screen, and there are several brainstorms about it, including my suggestion for animated call portraits.

I have always wanted an animated call screen, and with N900 power a 128x128 video is nothing.

Damn it.
