This has to be the lamest day ever..... Since i got my firefox from OVI originally, I wont be able to get in on the beta for 1.1. How lame is that?

I tried uninstalling and everything but keep getting 1.0.1.!

Are you familiar with the terminal? If so, do this:

1. Uninstall firefox 1.0.1
2. Download newest beta fennec_1.1.somethingsomething_armel.deb
3. Go to terminal and become root
4. Install with dpkg -i fennec_1.1.somethingsomething_armel.deb
(You have to be in the correct directory when you install it - but you know how to do that, if you're familiar with the terminal).

I did this today and it works. You can't get the wrong version if you download the right version and install it with dpkg.

The beta ate up my battery in no time though. I left firefox 1.1 beta open with a web page visible on my n900 and half an hour later, my phone was sitting on the desk by itself, smoking hot. Battery had almost drained.

Or do 1 and 2, then open file manager, find the file and click on it

So i managed to install fennec 1.1 and I though I can say it's better then firefox 1.01 in terms of rendering pages and streaming videos, it still is a bit sluggish. I always give the benefit of doubt to betas but it's a major improvement over the previous version and you will just notice it right away.

I downloaded and installed Fennec 1.1 even though I remembered how much I hated their earlier versions...but I have to say....this version is amazing. Speed it up a little bit and this will be my main browser in no time.

- double-tapping to zoom in and out,
- TABS!,
- addons that works very well (like tweet from the address bar),
- etc

Excellent work and this has the potential of becoming THE browser.
Never thought I'd say that about Fennec so I'm very, very impressed.

PLEASE make it faster

I got an OTA update for fennec 1.0.1 and mozilla engine last night and I must say microB is performing better than ever. is there a correlation b/w the mozilla engine and microB I wonder. Does anyone have a clue ? thanks.

No. If you perceive an improvement in MicoB it's just a placebo effect. Both are Mozilla-based but MicroB is based on Firefox 3.5's engine while Firefox Mobile is based on Firefox 3.6's engine. They do not share them.
