Is PR1.2 RC disappointing?
Not at all! I'm happy to run it.
I just hope that rearranging the icons in the app menu works better in the final version. Right now, it's a usability nightmare - you have to click on an icon X and the one you selected before is inserted after X. It should be done like in iPhone (IIRC) - hovering icon, pushing other icons aside, so that you actually drop your icon in between others.

Some thing which I really like are:
1. Phone app orientation can be fixed to landscape or portrait and it works.
2. Can hold the key to get it to type the blue symbol.
3. Proper back button in browser.
4. 90MB free rootfs with many apps and all repositories enabled.

It makes me more excited about the upcoming official release.
Definitely better, no doubt about that.

As for point 4. With all the apps I install previously in PR1.1.1, I have less than 30MB free rootfs.
Now, I have more than 80MB free rootfs. The only missing app is Brain Party.

too many moaning people, if some of these guys didnt take the risk and test it how would we know? isn't testing things like this what makes this OS so great? there is always risk but since n900 is like a pc you can always some how reinstall the OS and get it working.

kudos to ones who tried it and provided the info for the rest of us.

it is one thing to test and it is another to come back crying that your device went to ****.

Are any of these "testers" filling bug reports?

Quite an improvement thanks for the tip.

Did that too and sped up the browser abit BUT
causes the GMAIL startup script to get stuck.

So INCASE you need to use gmail with the browser, better leave jits set to false...

... if you don't need gmail then go for it.

they are trying to fix a problem which occurred because it wasnt complete or not deisgned for region but a brand new n900 out of the box had issues, some people got reboot loop, they came here crying that they bought a **** peice of kit?

they got advice of memebers and sorted the problem.......

if some one installed the leak fw and they said n900 is **** because the firmware sucks then its a different story but the ones that tried it cry like that.

Well all i can say is that i flashed last night and so far everything has been good. No major problems (sorry for the people that are having problems) Yes there is a lot more space free on rootfs, even with devel & extras enabled and almost all the applications restored i have about 92 mb free. I even flashed titan's 950/500 kernel and disabled all the transitions (i prefer speed over eye candy) and the phone is super fast. The only problem i faced once is that the phone was saying no Sim card inserted, just turned the phone off and back on the problem hasn't happened so far. The problem happened about 3 hours back, i will come back and update if i have any more problems. For other people i would say if you can wait for the official release good. If not then do what i did, all the data on my phone is really important to me so first i made sure i made a backup of everything on my memory card then connect the phone to my computer in mass memory mode and copy everything over from the phone and memory card over to my hard drive (copy & paste) and i have a n95 as my backup phone. After all this i flashed the leaked FW, i also removed my memory card before flashing (just to be on the safe side) flashed only the rootfs not mass memory (took about 2 or 3 mins) then restored all setting using the backup made on the memory card and restored all the applications (some won't restore) after that i tested everything that i could think of and then flashed it with titan's kernel. Haven't looked back since. I know all these things have been mentioned by other users but i said everything again because as a reader that is what i am looking for different users with the same experience and that is what helps me in taking a decision as "should i flash the leaked FW even though some users are having problems with it" good luck guyz who are thinking about flashing with the leaked FW
