I cant get it working. I fail at the 1st step. Here is what I did,
sudo gainroot
/home/user # cd/etc/systemui and then enter
/bin/sh: cd/etc/systemui : not found
please help

U have to have a space after cd...
Try cd /etc/systemui

I tried asking the following in my own thread, but no-one replied (perhaps no-one knows), so I thought I'd try here.
Does anyone know what the difference is between this reboot and the command-line "reboot" you can type in x-term as root?
All I can tell is that after the menu version is run, the phone will not ask you for the SIM card PIN, where was the command-line does like it would after a power-off. Also the menu is much quicker to start the reboot, it almost feels like pressing a reset button then performing a restart.

works here perfectly
im using winscp to edit files, a breeze with it.
also if you use reboot button it dosent ask for sim pin, which could be good or bad.

You must have made an error in editing the systemui.xml file

I had the same problem. Now its working fine.
I have figured out that if you leave multiple copies of systemui.xml file in that directory it uses all of them. Although they have different names. Not sure why.
Just leave one copy of that file in this directory and move all backups to any other directory.
