tried to use different USB port. maybe you are connecting it to the USB 1.

There are several machine (pc / laptop) comes mix USB 1 and USB 2.

so N900 needs USB 2.0 for the charging portion.

Maybe it's a wording thing, but. You don't need to install anything on the N900 to support PC Suite. You do need to install it on the PC, but that's it.

The one major things to check is that when you plug it in you select PC Suite mode for the connection mode. I'd assume you're doing that though. Also make sure you have the check box ticked in the settings for PC Suite to used the cable. If it's not, it will never look for a cable connected device.

Another option may be to try it via bluetooth, just to see if it's just the cable/driver being the issue. I can sync mine either way (cable or bluetooth), just in case I move the cable and forget to bring it back.

It may also be helpful to completely remove PC Suite and any old drivers, reboot the PC, and install a fresh copy on the PC. Sometimes it takes that to get a flaky PC to wake up and remember it's drivers.

Good luck!

Maybe, just saying, it might be because it is well known the N900 is not supported by PC suite and will only be supported by the upcoming Ovi Suite currently in beta testing?

That or you didn't connect your N900 to a trout first...

well with all symbian phones it actually installs pc suite support to the phone, im assuming it does the same with the n900 since it is telling me that pcsuite support failed to install, i have had my n900 connected to my pc in the past but both pc and n900 have been formatted since.
it is actually for the beta test but it wont do it with pc suite either.
