Hey

Is it possible to use a bluetooth connection to remote into my XP machine?

I know i can use Wifi + VNC, but its a CarPC and i'd like to use bluetooth - setting up a wireless router in the car wouldn't be ideal .

Any ideas would be great!

Thanks,
Brett

Why not, I have a wifi access point as part of my carputer?

The main issue is that bluetooth is pretty low bandwidth and VNC/RD type uses tend to only work well when you have a pretty fat pipe.

Why you need a wireless router? You can create an ad-hoc wi-fi connection between these two devices.

zzzBrett: What system do you use as the carPC? It seems easier to add a USB wifi adapter on your car PC and establish an ad-hoc network to it from the tablet. Heck, if you also add a grps\evdo\3g\hsdpa\cdma module, you can create a mobile hotspot right inside your car too! (What's it called? Leapspot? Leap something..)

Thanks for the replies!

An ad-hoc wifi connection is a great idea, and i didn't even think about it (although i've never used one and am not sure how to..) but i think i'll go ahead and setup a router for wifi in my car. That'd be cool and easier to transfer files to and from the carpc, and i have an extra router laying around but no extra wifi usb for it .

I'll let yall know how it goes!

But one more question:
I'm trying to install the rdesktop application on my n770, and I can't install it! I goto maemo.org, and i've tried both the 2006 and 2007 versions. One, when i double click the downloaded file from the file manager on my nokia, the application manager loads, but nothing else happens (usually it asks if I want to install the application i doubled clicked on). If I try the other version, the application manager comes up, and it says "Operation Failed."

Not sure what i'm doing wrong. I've installed other applications by using the same method - downloading the install file to the "documents" folder, then double clicking it from the file manager.

Thanks again,
Brett

I don't know them off hand, but maybe you dont have the repositories in your app manager to take care of the dependencies that rdesktop has?

I know what dependencies are, and I think repositories are lists of applications (?).. but thats about it. Can't really find an informative post on how to update repositories.. How do I get the repositories necessary for rdesktop?

Thanks,
Brett
