Hi.

I hope this is not a redundant question. I've been trying to get the built-in Media Player for the N800 to recognize the music (mp3) files on my SDHC card. The card itself seems to be recognized. When I go to Tools --> Control Panel --> Memory, then I see the card listed as removeable media. It even says it's got 104 MB worth of "audio clips."

However, the Media Player will just not seem to recognize those files at all. I gave it a few minutes, but it doesn't seem to be scanning the card.

My question is, is there a partcular way in which I should organize the music files in the SD card? I simply copied two directories ("Dixie Chicks" and "The Beatles") off of my Linux box onto the card. Do I need to have the files in the root directory of the device?

Any help would be appreciated.

[EDIT] I ran osso-xterm and looked into the memory card. The mountpoint, /media/mmc1, does show all the music files I have there.

Have you tried file manager? If you can see the mp3 file, try to click on it. Probably the encoding of the mp3.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I can see the files on my card using File Manager.

In fact, it turned out that I just had to "restart" the OS. I read on the Nokia support page that the library would be refreshed as the card got inserted, but it is apparently not true - the OS must be rebooted to refresh the library.
