In Moscow i have no wi-fi connection everywhere, exept some places. To use maemo mapper I need to be online, so the program can download new page while i am scrolling or driving. The q: is how to download full city map for using offline only with Gps device?
Is the Nokia LD-3W good to use with n800 and maemo mapper.

Thanks in advance.

Zoom to view the area for which you want the maps, then open the "Manage Maps" dialog from the menu, and load maps by area (the default area is the one viewed currently). It would suggest to start with zoom levels 5 and 3, and pick other levels where necessary. Don't even try to load the entire city of Moscow's size on level 1 - just the areas that you really want to have in detail.

Yes, the LD-3W is a fine receiver. Pricey, but fast etc. I got one myself, primarily because it can share a charger with the tablet..

Or you can use Winmapper on your PC to download all the maps ahead of time and transfer them to your tablet.
