Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced any build quality issues with their Nokia N900?

I ask because I have had mine for just under 3 months now, and I'm very happy with it - when it works.

Unfortunately I've had the following issues with it:

- speaker for incoming phone calls stopped working (Carphone Warehouse sent it away to Nokia, took 10 days)
- charger stopped working (Carphone Warehouse sent it away to Nokia, took 10 days)

A friend of mine has a Nokia N900 and the USB charger on his handset failed as well.

I've had Nokia handsets for the last 10 years and the build quality has been rock solid... so I'm wondering if this is an issue with (a) my particular handset or (b) whether other people have had quality issues with their N900's?

Thanks!

I've never had an issue with my N900, but I have with every other Nseries phone i've ever had. My only complaint about the N900's quality is the crap stand.

If by speaker for incoming calls you mean the earpiece, I've had both problems on my first device... I was working round the first by activating the handsfree loudspeaker mode, but when the USB port started becoming unreliable for charging back it went. Both problems ahve been discussed at length here. However, I suspect that this is an early batch issue rather than an overall build decline; many early E90s had faulty mics, but replacement models were pretty rock solid.

Other than USB ports coming out for many users, the build quality has been very good.

No probs for me, even the usb is fine. (Incidentally, I HAVE had significant problems with the cool dual-purpose usb power cord that comes with the Kindle)

OK the phone is back with Carphone Warehouse, who are sending it back to Nokia to be repaired... 10 day turnaround I also dropped in to the local Nokia dealers, they confirmed that this is a problem with the earlier models, but that it is fixed with later ones?

If it goes again I will ask Carphone Warehouse for a (later) replacement model. 3 strikes within 3 months is enough to ask for a replacement, isn't it?

No issues on build quality here...just as adamFsmith, my only complaint is the stand, which I don't use anyway (but this is more poor design rather than poor quality)
