feel the same way, love the device but can't live without the lack of support. Moved to a HTC Desire and very happy (particularly with the choice of Twitter and email apps) but miss the hardware keyboard, video codec support, TV out, Skype integration on the N900. It really is a great device but Nokia need to do something about making sure the device has got the basic apps that everyone uses these days...they can't rely on the community for everyone (and the community are doing a damn good job, they just don't have the time).

Oh, I don't blame you. I'm not much of an Apple fan either but as a "phone with good games" it's pretty decent. And yes, I like the Milestone as well.

Very honest. I feel the same. I'd add the unbelievable fact that even today, there is no Ovi Suite support, and no app to edit office files.

I'm still waiting for PR1.2, but I'm afraid I'll be dissapointed.

I feel the same way. Tired of *****ing and moaning, I've just became quieter. Stopped my plans of developping apps for the N900, stopped helping people on forums, stopped "living" my N900.

But what I dislike the most is the twisted sense of unreality on these forums. It's incredible that there are people still defending Nokia's delay of PR1.2, saying stuff like 'it will be done when it's ready', presenting lame excuses like longstanding bugs and so on.

I hate Nokia with passion. I'd like to do really bad things to their management staff. I do like Linux, with all its power and freedom, though. Kudos to Nokia's technical team, employed by a company undeserving their talents.

Count me in I'm really looking forward to PR 1.2 but if after that Nokia fails to deliver apps to Ovi store I will get Android as well....

I still don't understand this sentiment.

Google and Apple don't "provide" apps to their stores.... they just approve them.

Why is it on Nokia to "deliver" apps to their store?

I can understand the frustration over PR1.2. Especially with a Leak out... hell I'm getting tempted to try the Leak.

Once PR1.2 is released (assuming it does get released ) - the SDK is out there and the platform is there for developers to develop and release. This isn't (entirely) on Nokia...

Of course they only approve apps but what I meant is that so far Nokia has failed to engage companies to develop for Maemo

In Ovi store only Bounce demo , Rovio's Angry birds without level pack and some crappy Offscreen games...

All can argue that N900 is a microcomputer and why you need apps but its what we as a consumer want! We want apps and games, that's it

I've been with the company since 1999 but things have changed, sitting around with huge market share without innovating is one thing but having a powerful platform without a strategy is a disaster

The onus is on Nokia to create a good development ecosystem and a functional market. The framework for that system is still not in place. I love the N900 but I won't defend Nokia on this front. Development is out of reach for anyone without linux knowledge and experience. I should know, it took me weeks to get the SDK setup and running. By the time I did get it up and running, Nokia announced the Meego partnership which was a "why bother" moment for me. Simply put, Nokia let the N900, Maemo and the customer down by failing to provide adequate support.

Look at the author of the Prismic Wallpaper Manager. He deserved more for his efforts.
