hello, I seem to be having a real problem. first a breif history so the best help can be offered: I have an overclocked n900 (lehto's original 900) I also live in the U.S. however this problem recently happened after i arrived to Ireland for the summer (don't know if my location is an issue??? now I am new to all this so please bear with me but I will try to be as thorough as possible. I originally had my n900 clocked at 800mhz due to the heat in florida and was looking forward to spending the summer in Ireland so I could comfortably try the 900mhz clock speed without too much fear (so far no problems with the cpu) after I clocked to 900 i immediately wanted to fix the 'about:unknown' in the settings using "apt-get install --reinstall mp-fremantle-002-pr" however I got back that reinstallation of mp" ... " is not possible, it could not be downloaded. this confused me since I have done this many times before so I started to retrace and see what has changed since the last time and alot actually: first of all as soon as I got to Ireland I changed my region and language settings to english-ireland.... Now this next point I know is important I just dont know when it came about: in my app manager, only maemo catalogs refresh. nokia, nokia system updates and ovi fail to refresh and I dont know why... throughout my troubleshooting I found out that I cant download from ovi store... after i click on something to download it automatically opens up the app manager like normal but then just sits there doing nothing for a long while until eventually i get a some rpositoreis failed to refresh...& a connection time out".. now this is not my connection as I on the internet as this happens & like I said all maemo repos work fine.
after I noticed this I wanted to just revert back to the original stock kernel thinking it would fix everything so putting "apt-get --reinstall install kernel kernel-flasher" i get that it as well is not possible, it can not be downloaded:

/home/user # apt-get --reinstall install kernel kernel-flasher
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Reinstallation of kernel is not possible, it cannot be downloaded.
Reinstallation of kernel-flasher is not possible, it cannot be downloaded.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
/home/user #

this is the same i get for mp fremantle..."???

now in trying to fix all of this i used flasher from my pc and reflashed tooriginal specs and everything is fine except I still cant access any "nokia/ovi" repos....???

as I am writing this I went ahead and clocked to 900mhz purely for pleasure while I wait for an answer so at the moment I have the latest firmware (not 1.2 rc) the legit one from nokia) and am at 900mhz and settings about says unknown.

(oh real quick... even if I click on the facebook installer for instance... I get stuck in the app manager due to not being able to access the repos.

this my first time using the community but from what I've seen we have a great community here full of very intelligent people and am sure a resolution can be found. thank you all in advance
(also if you need to reach me as the notification subcription for this thread is not working for me, use jdblondin@gmail.com ...again thank you.

Closed, this is neither ovi.com nor nokia.com.

As you already overclocked your device I doubt Nokia will help you if this is some weird hardware problem (warranty).

In normal circumstances any downtime of repositories is not wanted to happen in this very case as of not having mirrors. BUT this is hardware driven by humans, so it might happen that someone pulls the wrong plug and the servers are down or not properly working yet. Please be patient with the internet and the folks running its property.

Please consider to contact Nokia.
The European discussion forum for maemo devices at Nokia is here http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...ces/bd-p/maemo

(You may reflash your device and if the problem of "About" not showing anything remains, I would contact Nokia asap. Another tip, the OC temperature for environmental (you will get nano-hotspots much hotter) is nothing to worry about but this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromigration)
