it is totally possible using the flasher 3.5 on windows.
the wiki is refering to the NSU.

How does one obtain a Linux live cd? Sorry off topic. I have had the leaked firmware installed since it was leaked and my N900 is currently overclocked to 850mhz. Everything is great.

Having just helped out some with the same probem

flasher-3.5 -F os.bin -f
wait for it to finish
flasher-3.5 -F vemmc.bin -f -R

Don't unplug the phone between flashing the OS and emmc images..

(edit: Note that the first command doesn't have -R on the end.. important!)

Go to www.ubuntu.com and download -> Burn the imagefile on a cd -> Then turn off the computer -> insert the cd -> start the computer -> viola! you are now running linux. And you didn't need to install anything. It will be a bit slower though and you wont be able to install anything. For that you need to install.

when trying to flash emmc it keeps asking me to install nokia cd-rom and pc-suite mode, but i have pc suite installed which was working........

And put all the files in the same directory.. (i.e. C:\N900\)

just to minimize all the variables that could fck up your setup:
- Take off other usb devices (only keyb,mouse)
- Do not connect to usb-hub (only directly to your pc)
- Close all the nokia software on your windows
- Charge N900 full

When "usb device not found" appear try removing the usb-cable -> wait 20 sec or sum -> Press "u" on the n900 -> insert the usb-cable again.

You are running around in circles instead of doing what you should be doing in that order.
