Can anyone tell me what that square icon, next to the ruler icon on the task bar does? It doesn't seem to do anything for me. I checked the main Xournal site and they don't even show an icon like that one.

I had too many problems with this program, I uninstalled it. I just could not get it to work.

That square icon does... nothing - the triangle on its right, instead, does what the square icon likely is intended to, that is changing line colour.
In my (humble) opinion, Xournal is a great app and I have been using it a lot bot for freehand notes and sketches, and to annotate some simple pdf file.
