i want to begn writing some code for the n900 but
scratchbox and maemo sdk install scripts and whatever
is producing all sorts of errors.

to make a long story short, is there a simple way to install a full maemo development enviroment (MDE lol) on top of Ubuntu 10.04 without the freeking hassels.
really all i want to do is code under ubuntu10.04.

i have seen Madde but i dont want to install windows...

thanks you

Is scratchbox2 good for you? I like it more than sb1, but nobody knows is it alive anymore or not.

I made instruction for ubuntu 9.10, but I guess it is working on 10.04 too:

(I have been happy with 64bit Ubuntu 9.10 + sb2)

One question - Not a silly one, though.
Are you in the right environment?
FremantleX86 or FremantleARMEL?

If you're transferring to N900 and you have compiled using X86 environment or vice versa , that could be your problem.

Edit: MADDE is designed for (works best in) LINUX, not Windows!

Can I give you a suggestion that was made to me by a few members here?
Why not Python?
I decided last week to give Python a shot.... It's EXCELLENT!
MUCH HAPPIER using Python.

You should take a look at the new Qt SDK. Fully integrated environment with a simulator to check your applications without needing to copy them to your device.

http://www.forum.nokia.com/Tools_Doc.../Nokia_Qt_SDK/

It works just fine on Ubuntu v 10.04
