Milestone has the same processor as N900 so the GPU is identical. The Galaxy S will have an even more powerful GPU according to Samsung...

I am honestly tempted to replace my n900 with htc desire.

I got an N900 about a week ago, instead of an HTC Desire.

Choice was quite simple really, I need a proper geek phone, and the N900 is it.

I have not regretted the decision for one minute. But it's not a phone I'd recommend to everyone, as to get the most out of it you need to know what you're doing.

I know the politics of it all will be irrelevant to a lot of people but I'd seriously think twice about buying an HTC device due to the weasley deal they did with Microsoft.

I prefer the N900 over the Desire too. A friend of me got the Desire and it's a great phone.
But the N900 is something different, something better IMHO.

It really boils down to the question:
- What do you want more: a mobile phone on steroids, or pocketable microcomputer with phone option?

just got the desire on another contract....
I'm still getting used to it, but both got its pros and cons...

i'd type on the N900 any time..
I prefer N900's screen, but hate the scratches - it gets fu**ed even if i use it with extra care.....
the minimise and close button helps a lot on maemo... you have to press back on the desire (unless there is a way out)....
camera on the desire is a bit sharp edged, need to be careful when keeping it on a surface....

market is waaay better than maemo. i kept scrolling own until i gave up...
i dont know whether half the market is useless like the N900's one....

battery life.. hmmmmmmm much better than n900....

My friend got the Desire as well and my 2 cents:

- Plenty of apps on Android. But didn't find that many extra special apps compared to N900. I searched 100 most popular, top 100 must have apps etc etc and I don't see much useful for me. Certainly not tons better than N900 imo. I much prefer my geeky desktop apps such as openssh, truecrypt, midnight commander etc..

- It can't play xvid videos? That's one of my main uses for my N900. So this is real bad news. I hate converting vids. Been doing it with my PSP for a long time.

- Desire is obviously not comparable to N900 hardware wise. It has a worse screen, worse camera, worse video recording, no active lense cover, no camera shutter button, weaker flash, no hw keyboard, no stand, no fm transmitter, no built-in 32GB memory in addition to MicroSD slot, no TV out, no stereo speakers, no resistive screen which allows me to use finger nails or any hard object I happen to have in my hand at the time....... Sheesh. That's a lot.

Well, Desire is a more "smart phone" than the N900 is.
So for those who wants that, it's a great sleek device.
For me, I wouldn't swap my N900 for it that's for sure.
I see nothing but downsides to it. Dunno. Just do.
