guys i have received my N900 and I'm really happy with it so far except that it doesn't support Arabic input , i have tried couple times to install it with no joy , never had any experience with Linux so i would appreciate your help.

After installing ukeyboard, go to the keyboard settings to change the onscreen-keyboard layout to Arabic (and don't forget to enable the onscreen-keyboard, it's disabled by default). Then you'll be able to input Arabic.

but how can i install it !! i tried to install it with app manager but it didn't work

In Application-Manager, the *Extras* repository is not enabled by default due to legal issues. Click on "Application catalogues" in the menubar.

However, ukeyboard is not yet available in Extras but is currently in the Extras-Testing repository.
Extras-Testing and Extras-Devel repositories provide software that has NOT yet been tested enough and is not meant for normal average end-users.
Installing software from these repositories may destroy your device, eat all your data, and kill your kittens. Just warning you.

You can also make the whole OS arabic.

Hi!

I just reflashed my N900 to PR 1.2.

I noticed that the UKeyboard version from the Extras repo messes it up pretty much.
(Installing the version from Extras-Devel fixed it, however.)

Is it time to promote the new one to Extras?
Because the old one really screws up PR 1.2 devices.

I promoted it to extras-testing for voting today, so It depends how fast it can get "10 thumbs up" in order to allow to to push it to extras :-)

BTW: I'm going to write a short announcement to let people know that
