FYI, I opened a bug for this (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8662) and it was closed as INVALID with no explanation.

Skype does not support using a p for a pause on ANY client. Even though people have been asking for it from skype for over three years (search for insert pause skype on google)
So, yeah, WONTFIX because the core code from skype doesn't do this would be my guess.

i don't want to change skype, can't nokia just pause for x time before sending a DTMF tone based on number string.
A work around would be just dial the number unto the "p" and don't sent or dial the DTMF tone.

Why would the future of Skype on mobile devices rest predominantly on the ability to have pauses work within contacts? factor.
1. Create a new contact
2. Enter the full phone #, with extra digits, in the "Cell/Phone" field (green handset icon)
3. Click on "Add field"
4. Scroll down and select the light blue "Skype" field (from my picture)
5. Enter only the main phone number from step #2, then just save the contact.
Again, it should look like my picture from above.
