the kernel "forgets" the defaults as soon as you load another setting and it cannot reset it byself. It requires an application that is aware that settings 600 is ignored by kernel and that one would need to specify 599 for that.
So you must have some script (maybe the one recently posted that changes profiles based on temperature) or widget that changes the profiles.

Looked into everything i can think of and ran out of ideas. Like i said before i have not modified anything. was working pre ver 27 on phone.
Problem
Running an un modded v34 etc/pmconfig file untouched
Tried a full uninstall and reinstall
All config settings revert back including Ideal/LV and manually setting max/min cpu freq.
Any ideas greatly appriciated.
cheers

Edit I seem to remember this was a problem with an earlier kernel and was sorted by changing default freq from 600 to 599 or something along those lines.Anyone remember how this was solved?

What settings are you using exactly? If you're using the "ideal" or "xlv" presets, you might not have enough voltage for 850mhz to run stable.
hi thanks for your reply, my setting commands are as follow, it is indeed in 850mhz , so what can i do if i still wanna keep it at 850mhz but make it more stable? thanks

rm /etc/default/kernel-power
rm /etc/default/kernel-boot
ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /etc/default/kernel-power
ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/boot /etc/default/kernel-boot

thanks

Well for starters, you didn't even try the other settings (LV, ULV, XLV) and jumped straight to the end on the least likely to work preset. "Ideal" uses lower voltages than the other presets, it's most likely to introduce instability if your chip doesn't have very good overclock yields.

Try the ULV or XLV config for starters and set the min/max to 250/850 and see how it works like that.

hi, thanks v much your reply.

I would realy appreciate it if you can give a simple step by step guide as to how to change them...

because i follow someone's procedures to overclock, i didnt really have a clue what i was doing.. (a noob i know..)

please shred my light, i i will really appreciate it.

cheers

p.s i didnt use the method of flashing a kernel into the device, i followed these steps :

apt-get install kernel-power-settings

reboot

rm /etc/default/kernel-power
rm /etc/default/kernel-boot
ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /etc/default/kernel-power
ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/boot /etc/default/kernel-boot

kernel-config load /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/boot

That is already covered dozens of times in this thread and various others, there's also a wiki for it:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Overclocking

If you think the thread is too big to search for the information that's already freely available, it's because posts like this where people get lazy.

I just want to say thanks to you titan, really nice going this one You curred my N900 for random reboots with your costum kernel and on top off that i can oc my phone

Thanks

e: I use to have atleast 2 random reboots a week and now it's gone after installing kernel power. I've had this installed for 3 weeks now more or less

Has anyone else noticed any impact to standby time after updating v34 kernel?

I have changed back to v27 and again to v34 couple of times and noticed that battery will not last so long as previous OK version.

Here is one example. First quite flat graph, then short charging and a big impact to idle current consumption. Then I changed to v27 and nothing similar could be repeated. More or less similar if I change again back to v34. Also flat period is more flat with v27, difference is not huge.
All settings are similar when tested v34 and v27.

Could this latest kernel update cause more current to be drain from battery?

Hi, do i just replace the 'ideal' into 'ULV or XLV ' in

Code:
ln -sf /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/ideal /etc/default/kernel-power
?

Can i do this straight in the xterm while im having my 'ideal' setting now?

Yes you can change them while running, no reboot needed.
In xterm as root, just type: kernel-config load ulv then press enter
for other settings replace ulv with lv, xlv, or ideal
