While downloading the new PR1.2 bin file for flasher am seeing an Indian version of the firmware. "RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM.bin 187590653 PR 1.2 version 10.2010.19-1 Latest Maemo 5 India release for Nokia N900"

So the question is it compatible with the first released hardware. I would imagine so. But the more crucial question is does it have any disabilities like the HK version which came without the FMtx. As to why I want to install this particular version, just curious.

First of all there is no question for waiting, all the bin files are available.. There is a US variat, a global variant, an Indian variant and a Middle East & Nort Africa variant... Sine I got mine pre-ordered from Amazon I should be installing the US variant. But that was not the question at all !!

Guess nobody has a clue.

I'm guessing it hints at an official Indian N900 release

Only way is to have a production model release in India or go through the Product manual in the Indian site.

AFAIK the only thing which could change is the radio transmitter. There are rules in India about transmission power and licenses required, but god knows if Nokia managed to figure those out.

EDIT: Just checked out the UG Nokia_N900_APAC_UG_en.pdf. Seems the FM transmitter is going to be working just fine.

Thats been pretty obvious from the "Coming Soon" message on nokia.co.in already

Really odd that the put the actual firmware image out before the physical model, don't recollect them ever doing that before.

One thing for what i am afraid of installing the indian version is skype calls will stop working...as skype on phone is not allowed in india. But since it works on N900...am afraid if i install latest that would stop working. Anyone has installed indian version can confirm?
