Desktop data counter no longer works Roaming data counter is when you are on a phone network different from the sim one (useful when abroad maybe). Assume desktop data counter will have a fix soon. The clunkiness and slowness dissaperas after a few hours I have found.

I had the leaked pr1.2 (yes I know...) and cannot find any differences other than the fact that the latest pr1.2 has ruined my battery life. LPR1.2 was superb, I could get a whole days use without going near 1/2 way on the battery. This morning I took it off the charger, checked my email and a few forums and 20mins later and 1/4 battery gone Not a good sign. At this rate I will flash back. Time to remove desktop widgets and reduce screen brightness again How can this get so much worse? Will have to check my wif fi power settings and have a general trawl. Overal pr1.2 is better but why did this batch of fairly minor changes take sooo long ?

The Dataplan monitor used to check the single counter that the OS maintained. As the counters have changed at the OS level the widget will need an update to reflect this.

Regarding menu scrolling and 'chuggyness' it seems to vary from handset to handset though a lot of people have found things settle down after the handset has had time to reindex things and a further reboot too.

Hope that helps some!
Thanks, yes. I guessed the problem was the data counter widget - I'll have to remove that till it's updated, I suppose. (Grr)

I have just rebooted but not yet had a chance to try the beast since. It was certainly slow when it was first installed, even with things like the calendar widget. (Life is complex - got a long work phone call in the middle of restoring, so still pushing a bit more go-juice in before I head into work.)

Is there anything else I ought to check for? I have tried running a few random music and video files, and don't seem to have any problems there. What else might have gone haywire?

Wait did you just say IMAP ?????????????? (sighs)

Thank God I have my 3GS, never crashed once, does all the things the N900 is incapable of doing.....and hell i can even ssh into my servers, the main reason for buying Nokias brick. And It syncs perfectly.

Looking at all the bugs after 1 day, it is patently evident Quality Testing is non-existing, I suppose Nokia have got our money and there is no need to further invest in a dead platform.

Ok, fine, N900 is the worst crap ever made. Are you happy? OK!!!

Now, geez, go play with your apple stuff and stop bothering me!!!

You can make your own data counter with the Desktop Command Execution Widget. You can either show total data (Download and Upload Combined script) or separately (Upload and Download Separated script).

I'm using US firmware. Anyone else having save problem? I thought i'll check here before filing a bug.
I downloaded UK firmware yesterday and can confirm this bug. but at least MFE works with Nokia messaging now.

Well for some reason after a full reflash (including EMMC) everything seems to run fine but the phone tells me that it cant communicate with my sim (its like 14 years old one or so), but the previous version of the os didnt had problems with that.
So will have to get a new one probably because i dont see anyone else having this problem.

LOL ????

http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ad.php?t=33207

LOL @ that...idiot, yes I had this problem too (surprise)......the biggest lol was the guy who said "At this point I'd start to do some packet capturing..."

Yeah im sitting 1000 miles from my server, wanting to do a simple ssh, but hey now I need to start spending a day packet sniffing network traffic to diagnose what i already know (dodgy phone/OS), who *really* has time to waste like that ?

As I said.....N900/Maemo has fail written all over it

People laud about the "open" platform, well im i remember rightly the N900 uses proprietary binary drivers to run alot of devices ????.

There is a real problem of denial on this board, any *honest* and *realistic* comments which do not praise n900/maemo.......we are told to "go away"/shut up etc etc, which is not healthy for the community. Criticism can be a good thing. Saying things like

So Iphone Ur One Brick without FLASH in the APPLES WALL!!!
Get The FLASH OUT OF HERE!!!"

Is not only childish but plain off putting, and sure as hell wont attract new users to the platform.

""N900 is for Pros and Geeks who can make , build and tweek with the hardware power! ..."

Hmmmm im a qualified software engineer, I do more *nix admin than you can dream of, supporting SUSE/Centos/Redhat and recently Ubuntu server, along with the usual MS servers.

I "make build and tweek" more stuff than you can dream of son, some of us have to make a living, so unfortunately can spend days wasted writing scripts on our phones.

time to rm -rf /

Look at the vast array of bugs after one day !, can anyone look me in the eye and tell me in all honesty that any degree of quality testing was carried out on this release ????? clearly it wasn't, and id go as far as saying that

It really was a case of slipping in the bad news ie no meego with good news of a new update.
